years, to find the back pain was back with a vengeance, and she wasn't

to teach in a health club industry, and was eventually asked by them
to be a trainer. Since completing all the Yoga Alliance requirements
for the YogaFit style, Lara has also done teacher trainings with other

On her “off” time from YogaFit, she is
the Director of Fitness Yoga, Group Exercise Director

Mary discovered yoga in 1994 originally as a way
to spend time with her mother (in their overly busy
type-A lives)…not only embracing the
practice but allowing it to be a source of support and calm for her during
her mother's terminal illness. From that experience, this inspiration
has moved Mary to dedicate herself to the study of yoga as a body, mind,
heart, and community practice, exploring how thoughts, feelings, and
the effects of stress on the mind and body influence our physical and
emotional well-being. Her current in-depth study is focused on the Chakras
and yoga as a part of healthy weight management. Mary is continually
inspired by her experiences with students, and as a student of yoga.
In between training weekends, Mary also enjoys raising two amazing children,
wine tasting and collecting, and reading.

yoga that would fit her lifestyle. She attended YogaFit’s
Level 1 training and found a positive and encouraging atmosphere created
by her YogaFit trainers. She began to feel more confident in her
teaching ability and continued to learn and grow with YogaFit. Mary
finished her 200 hour RYT with YogaFit in 2006 and has joined the YogaFit
team of trainers. She is excited to be able to pass her energy
and enthusiasm for YogaFit to others.
Mary’s interest in physical fitness began
after she graduated from Florida State University and
realized that she had gained over forty pounds. She
vowed that she would live a healthier lifestyle and
began an exercise routine. Mary appeared in a “Body
Firm” video and participated in two Iron Man
triathlons, several Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons,
and a marathon. Mary continued to follow her
interest in health and fitness and is currently the
Fitness Coordinator for her local YMCA, as well as,
an ACE certified personal trainer and yoga instructor.
The YogaFit philosophy of releasing judgment,
competition and expectation has had a tremendous impact
on her life, both on and off the mat. She is
a firm believer in the program and she is grateful
to be able to share it with others.
